Shakan Pitters vs Chad Sugden rearranged for August 22
Hennessy Sports tweeted the following news on Thursday, June 25: "Boxing is back, live & free on Channel 5, Saturday, August 22nd. Shakan Pitters vs Chad Sugden for the British Light Heavyweight Championship."
The rescheduled fixture between Birmingham's Shakan Pitters (13-0, 4KOs) and Newark's Chad Sugden (11-1-1, 4KOs) will take place in eight weeks time and happens to fall on the same proposed date as Dillian Whyte vs Alexander Povetkin.
The pair were due to lock horns on March 28, but the show was cancelled just 11 days before.
The Newark ‘Body Snatcher’ is preparing to chop down his towering Midlands rival 'SP' with rib-breaking punches but will have to deal with a significant six-inch height deficit as well as Pitters’ staggering 85 inch reach – 10 inches more than Chad's.
Both boxers have four KOs in 13 fights, but 'SP' has two extra wins over '2Slick', with a loss to tough journeyman Alistair Warren (9-14-4) in just his fifth fight, and a draw in his last fight against Craig Richards (15-1) in December last year.
Pitters rose to prominence in November 2018 when he won Ultimate Boxxer II. He defeated Carl Greaves-trained Dec Spelman (12-1) in the final on points, but had registered a knockdown in every single one of the three fights that night – five knockdowns in total. Following two routine six-rounders in the first half of 2019, Pitters met Spelman again – now (16-2) – in his last fight in September last year and claimed the English light heavyweight title with a unanimous points win.
