Teofimo Lopez takes to social media to give fans an update on his career
Teofimo Lopez has given a surprise update on his career as he continues to train in the gym.
Lopez has had a wild couple of years that have seen him fight the best in the buiness but also take an unexpected loss and plenty of flack for less than perfect perofmances in the ring.
It was back in October 2020 that he defied the odds and dethroned Ukrainian technician Vasyl Lomachenko to pick up the unified world lightweight titles. He then took on aggressive Aussie George Kambosos in a defence of his IBF title in November 2021 but lost the fight on points.
Teofimo rebuilt with wins over Pedro Campo and Sandor Martin before then moving up and winning the WBO and The Ring light welterweight titles from Scot Josh Taylor. He defended them last time out against Jamaine Ortiz back in February in a below par showing that drew some ire from fans.
A new message posted on X by Lopez suggests he has no targets or activity lined up right now.
“No fight lined up. Still preparing for anything & anyone.”
On April 20, there is a world super lightweight title fight between Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia and the winner of that could present a good option for Lopez, or else Shakur Stevenson is another elite level fighter without a scheduled bout.
Gervonta Davis has a fight lined up in summer against Frank Martin but is also another potential opponent for Lopez, and Lopez has previously called out Terrence Crawford.
