Ryan Garcia gives surprise verdict on Gervonta Davis power following their fight
Almost a year on from being stopped by a body shot from Gervonta Davis in their April showdown, Ryan Garcia has now given a surprising verdict on the Baltimore fighter’s power.
In one of 2023’s most anticipated fights, Garcia stepped up against multi-weight champion Davis in a huge pay-per-view bout at the T-Mobile Arena.
It ended with Davis’s seventh-round stoppage and marked a first pro loss for the popular fighter from California.
Though he was dropped twice, Garcia remains adamant about Davis’s lack of power even though he has an impressive knockout record which includes scalps over Leo Santa Cruz.
He has now said as much to Jack Alter on YouTube and claimed it was in fact the accuracy that was the key difference.
“He can not hit hard I’m telling you. It’s his accuracy. The punches that you don’t see are the ones that hurt you. Not the ones that you do see.
“There are some people that even if you see it, that s**t hurts. He’s not like that. He’s what he is, he’s an accurate sniper. He’s a sniper.”
Following Garcia’s December victory over Oscar Duarte, “KingRy” has now set his sights on a showdown with WBC super-lightweight champion Devin Haney in April, sparking verbal sparring between the two, while Garcia has also fired shots at a YouTube boxer recently.
