Ryan Garcia initiates social media beef with TikTok star Bryce Hall after the influencer called out UFC fighter Sean Strickland on X
In a bizarre turn of events, Ryan Garcia – since agreeing to face his amateur rival Devin Haney in a rubber match on April 20 – has directed his attention towards Bryce Hall, an American TikTok star with over 24 million followers!
On X, he said: “F*** you, you owe my dad money we have been trying to serve you wassup. Stop dodging foreeal.”
This was in response to Maryland’s Hall enticing Strickland to spar him, as the TikTok boxer said: “U know I’m down Seanny boy.”
The 24-year-old social media star lost an exhibition boxing match to to Austin McBroom, which was the headliner to the YouTubers vs TikTokers event. However, he won his bare-knuckle boxing match against 3–0 professional fighter Gee Perez on BKFC 48.
It is a bewildering scenario with Garcia, regardless of his issues with Hall, needing to focus on his upcoming fight with Haney.
As things stand, it is level between the two American super lightweights after their six contests as amateurs.
Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) is the WBC world champion at 140 lbs, after beating Regis Prograis in a dominant performance over 12 rounds back in December last year.
As a pro, he has notable wins over Vasyl Lomachenko and George Kambosos Jnr down at lightweight, where he became the undisputed champion.
Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) had employed Derrick James as his new trainer following an emphatic defeat to Gervonta Davis last year, when he was stopped by a sickening body shot in the seventh round.
James works with the likes of Errol Spence Jr and Frank Martin, and is known for his emphasis on the jab, which his fighters routinely practice so they can dictate the pace, distance and rhythm against their opponents.
There were certainly glimpses of this in his comeback fight against Oscar Duarte but, against Haney – a polished fighter both defensively and offensively – Garcia may need some fine tuning, as he will require more than his signature left hook to win the title.
