Debutant Finlay James kicks off pro career with dominant points win
Trained by Mark Tibbs, Finlay James (1-0) comfortably defeated Russian opponent Rustem Fatkhullin (9-74, 3KO) over four rounds at the York Hall on November 11.
The super-lightweight bout was scored 40-36 by referee Mark Bates on the nine-fight card promoted by Mo Prior, which was topped by a Southern Area super-flyweight championship contest between winner Paul Roberts and Kent's Martin Hillman.
Young prospect James won the England Boxing National Youth Championships in the under-56kg cadet category in 2020 by defeating rival Cameron Lavery (Impact), who had beaten him in the finals the year before. As an amateur, he won multiple national titles and captained the West Ham boxing club.
