De La Hoya tells Mayweather to “F**k off” during dispute
Ryan Garcia’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya has had some choice words for multiple division champ Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather over social media.
The former Mexican fighter, who won 11 world titles in six weight classes, has had a well-documented rocky relationship with the younger man since Garcia signed for Golden Boy Promotions back in 2017.
The feud between the two rivals seemed to have washed away, although De La Hoya has once again lashed out to accuse the 50-0 boxing legend of influencing Garcia's decisions.
“Golden Boy has worked with Ryan Garcia since he turned pro, and together we have made him the biggest draw in boxing. We will make his fight with Rolly into a huge event, as we always do.
“Floyd, if you want to give Ryan the secret to defence in the ring, that’s great. Other than that, if you are still a promoter like it says here, f**k off.”
This comes after Ryan Garcia was spotted spending time with Mayweather last week, as they went on a run together in Las Vegas.
‘Golden Boy’ is accusing Mayweather of being the driving factor in ‘King Ry’s’ decision to back away from a WBC title challenge against Devin Haney, now eyeing up a bout with Rolly Romero for the WBA super-lightweight belt instead.
The distrust between Garcia and his promoter does not look like it will resolve any time soon, and unfortunately for the pair, they are tied together in a lengthy contractual agreement.
The 25-year-old’s next fight is yet to be announced, though it appears that Rolly Romero looks the likely candidate.
Mayweather has not yet responded to the accusations.
