We have a fight! “The Truth” and “Bud” make weight for the Fight of the Century!
Welterweight wizards Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. (28-0, 22KO) and Terence “Bud” Crawford (39-0, 30KO) made light of the weigh-in expectations on their shoulders, contesting the undisputed welterweight championship on Saturday, July 29, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
In addition to this historic fight, the “Filipino Flash” Nonito Donaire (42-7, 28KO) fights Mexican Alexandro “Peque” Santiago (27-3-5, 14KO) for the vacant WBC bantamweight title, and chief support will be provided by Mexican Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz (24-2-1, 17KO) against the undefeated Giovanni Cabrera (21-0, 7KO).
Spence is the unified WBC, IBF and WBA welterweight world champion, while Crawford holds the WBO 147-pound world championship. The winner of this scintillating showdown between these undefeated stars will become the first undisputed welterweight world champion in the four-belt era.
Spence vs. Crawford joins Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Thomas Hearns, Pernell Whitaker v. Julio Cesar Chavez and Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao, as a generational clash of superstars ready for a supernova classic.
Both came in close proximity, face to face at the official weigh-in on Friday, July 28 as anticipation edged ever closer to the climax. Unified titlist Spence registered 147 pounds, while WBO King Crawford was slightly under at 146.8 pounds.
