Background
Foster is returning to the ring after experiencing his one and only career defeat to Jason Cunningham in October last year. In a scrappy fight, 'The Blade' conceded his British and Commonwealth super-bantamweight titles to European champ Cunningham, losing by a single round on two of the three cards, after a point deduction for a low blow.
He has called for the rematch, believing he should have won the fight. But first, he has a tough test to get through in the form of talented Romanian Ionut Baluta. ]
'Il Capo' also lost his last fight, to world title contender Michael Conlan via mixed decision. One judge saw the contest as a draw, the other two siding with the Irishman. Prior to that, he was riding on a six-fight winning streak, which included fine victories over Olympian Davey Oliver Joyce (TKO3), and a points win against former world champ TJ Doheny.
Neither fighter has dynamite in their fists, so expect a full 10 rounds of top class action.
Undercard Highlights
KO King Andrew Cain (9-0, 8KOs) defends the WBC International Silver super-bantamweight title that he won within 20 seconds last month. He faces Mexican Luis Moreno (10-2, 6KOs) whose last loss was to Dennis McCann in 2021. McCann dropped Moreno in the eighth and final round but didn't stop the 29-year-old, which will be Cain's outright goal in his 10th professional contest. He wants to fight everyone, including Dennis 'The Menace', so he will be looking to make another statement.
Cain vs MorenoQuotes
Foster: "I'd fight him [Jason Cunningham] again! He has got the win against me so I want to fight him and he is the person with the title at the minute. We will see what comes up because I am not really focusing on Jason too much because I have got a geezer who is a better fighter and more dangerous than Jason in front of me on the 20th."
Predictions
Tim Rickson, BBN Editor: “I expect Foster to come back stronger and to defeat Baluta on points.”
