Canelo is the heavy favourite to beat Golovkin in epic trilogy clash
Despite Canelo and Golovkin sharing 24 close rounds together, a clear favourite has emerged at the bookies for the third fight this weekend.
Mexican superstar Canelo is already one up on the scorecards having won via split decision in their rematch in 2018, following a highly-controversial draw in 2017.
Despite a majority of fans believing Golovkin was the clear winner in fight one, outlanding the Mexican considerably, it's Saul Alvarez who is the 1/7 favourite with Betfair to beat Gennady Golovkin when the two meet in Las Vegas this Saturday for their third fight. Golovkin is 4/1 to claim his first win over Canelo, while a draw is 18/1.
BBN Editor Tim Rickson commented on the trilogy: "Canelo is the clear favourite at the bookies, I just saw he was at 1/5 to win with Betway, while Golovkin is 4/1 to gain revenge, and the odds for a draw at 20/1. I believe it's mostly due to the advanced age of Triple G, who has visibly slowed in recent fights. Against Ryota Murata in Japan this year, the 40-year-old took the first five rounds before he could start making an impact in the fight, and took a lot of clean hits, especially to the body, which Murata specifically targeted and made Golovkin wince under the power at times. He was the clear winner in the first fight, we all know he won that despite the judges' biased scorecards, but the rematch was a lot closer and was a real pick'em fight. The pattern is drifting away from him, so I concur that Canelo should win this third battle. By KO, though? I'm not so sure. He has landed his hardest punches on iron-chinned Golovkin and not been able to move him an inch. I think Canelo on points is the safest bet."

Canelo booked for 10th round win over Golovkin according to Sporting Index
Sporting Index predict that Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez will remain unbeaten against Gennady Golovkin and finish his old rival in the 10th round this Sunday.
The spread betting experts forecast a 31st minute stoppage in favour of the Mexican, who is the strong 2/11 favourite to record a second win over Golovkin.
Should the fight go the distance Canelo is 9/10 to win on points, with Golovkin a 11/2 chance.
The first meeting between these two rivals ended in a draw and a similar outcome is priced at 20/1.
Neville Burdock, Head of Sportsbook at Sporting Index, said: “We can’t see past Canelo getting the better of Golovkin once again and predict he will make quicker work of his Kazakhstani rival than in their last two meetings with a 31st minute stoppage.
“Canelo looks to hold the aces in both the knockout stakes and if the fight goes the distance, as the 8/5 and 9/10 favourite in both circumstances.”
