Key points:
- Ryan Garcia has publicly offered to fight Manny Pacquiao on Netflix if Fury vs Joshua falls through
- Garcia stopped Conor Benn in two rounds on September 12 and has separately called for a December fight with Isaac Cruz
- Pacquiao turns 48 in December and has fought only once since returning from a lengthy absence
- Neither Pacquiao nor Netflix has confirmed any interest in the fight
Ryan Garcia’s spotted an opening, and he’s not being quiet about it. If Cardiff falls apart, he wants Manny Pacquiao, on Netflix, immediately.
“Put me and Manny Pacquiao on Netflix, we’ll save the day. Me and Manny Pacquiao we’ll save that date,” Garcia said on a livestream, adding the fight would save December 11 “guaranteed.”
A name, not a genuine test
Pacquiao turns 48 in December and has fought exactly once since returning from years away. Garcia’s already got a live option sitting right there in Isaac Cruz, a fight he’s separately been pushing for. Volunteering for Pacquiao instead tells you plenty about which one he thinks does more for his own profile.
Rebuilding an entire event isn’t as simple as swapping a name
Cardiff was built around two British heavyweights and a home crowd. Slot in Garcia-Pacquiao, and you’re not just changing the headliner, you’re rebuilding the promotion, the ticket base and potentially the venue around a completely different audience. Neither Pacquiao nor Netflix has said a word about wanting any part of it.
