Controversy continues to follow Ryan Garcia around, recently arrested for vandalism
Ryan Garcia was arrested in a Beverly Hills hotel at around 5pm on Saturday, June 8.
The Beverly Hills Police Department responded to an intoxicated person call at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills at 5:15pm.
The 25-year-old was arrested on a felony vandalism charge.
The Athletic reports that Beverly Hills Fire Department transported Garcia to a local hospital for medical care after the arrest.
Lt. Andrew Myers said: “During the investigation, the intoxicated person was identified as Ryan Garcia.
“Upon obtaining statements from the hotel management, it was determined that Mr. Garcia was a registered guest of the hotel and had caused damage to a guest room and the hallway of the hotel.”
Garcia’s attorney, Darin Chavez, revealed Garcia might also be charged with public intoxication.
Chavez said in a statement to ESPN that the arrest came at “an extraordinarily challenging time for Ryan, as he has been grappling with devastating news regarding his mother’s health.
“Ryan has been open about his struggles with mental health over the years, and at this time he is dealing with an immense emotional burden.
“The support and understanding from fans and the public are crucial as he navigates these personal challenges.”
Garcia then posted a series of troubling tweets, stating, “I’m worried 🙁 I have to be at this weird hospital and they are trying to give me medicine and they have me on a hold for who knows how long, they will determine Pray for me God help me.”
‘KingRy’ sensationally defeated in WBC super-lightweight champ Devin Haney in April. However, since that surprise upset win, he has tested positive for banned substance Ostarine and is subject to an ongoing inquiry.
