The return of Miguel Berchelt
The day is approaching for Tlaxcala to enjoy a great night of boxing, in addition to the return of former world champion Miguel Berchelt.
32-year-old Mexican Berchelt (39-3, 35KO) will face Colombian Jeremy Triana (15-5-3, 13 KO) over 10 rounds with the Fecarbox lightweight title at stake. The heavy-handed ‘El Alacran’ aims to campaign at lightweight where he plans an assault on the world titles.
“I am ready after nine months, it is said easy but it has not been like that, to find the fight and myself. My coach Alfredo Caballero did an amazing job; but I am here with that desire to be world champion again, and what an honour to be in Tlaxcala.
“I trained well, I had a high altitude camp, I have made many sacrifices; the defeat against the Colombian made me learn to not underestimate any rival, I am focused on getting back on my path.”
Marilyn Badillo vs Alma Meraz
“I come wanting to continue being a champion, to have my hand raised; this time it is not my rival’s time (to win) I come with the desire to make my way towards the world world championship and also make way, to be the best in the world”, mentioned Marilyn Badillo (17-0-1, 3KO) who will face Alma Meraz from Mexicali, BCS (10-3-1, 2 KO) in a 10-round fight defending her WBC International flyweight belt.
This Friday the weigh-in will take place at the Xicotencatl Theater at 12pm.
