Keyshawn Davis vs Nahir Albright 2 Press Conference Notes
Former world champion and Olympic Silver Medalist Keyshawn Davis (14-0, 10 KOs) takes on Philadelphia’s Nahir Albright (17-2-1, 7 KOs) in a 12-round super lightweight rematch this Saturday, May 16, at Scope Arena in Keyshawn’s hometown of Norfolk. Keyshawn-Albright II will be streamed live on DAZN beginning at 8pm ET/5pm PT.
The two first met in October 2023, when Davis won a majority decision that was later overturned. Since then, the rivalry has only intensified.
In the 10-round welterweight co-feature, former world champion Brian Norman Jr. (28-1, 22 KOs) returns against Canada’s Josh Wagner (19-2, 10 KOs). Co-features often shape the night’s betting as much as the main event, and readers backing one from a mobile can compare our picks for pay by phone betting beforehand.
Additionally, Kelvin Davis (15-1, 8 KOs) will take on Bronx native Peter Dobson (17-3, 10 KOs) in a 10-round welterweight clash, while unbeaten Dominican contender Yan Santana (16-0, 13 KOs) defends his NABO featherweight title in a 10-rounder versus Cristian Cruz Chacon (24-7-2, 12 KOs).
Before the main DAZN broadcast, two bouts will stream live beginning at 6:30pm ET/3:30pm PT on DAZN, Top Rank and DAZN’s YouTube channels, and the Top Rank Classics FAST channel on Roku. Watching along on a phone or tablet, some fans will also want an account to hand, and Apple Pay betting sites offer one route to funding it without card details.
Promoted by Top Rank, in association with RDR Promotions, tickets are on sale at the Scope Arena box office and via Ticketmaster.com.
This is what the fighters said at Thursday’s press conference.
Keyshawn Davis
On how this fight happened… “We’re here because Nahir did a great job against Frank Martin, his people kept calling my people, and we picked up his phone call. That’s why we’re here.”
On how he feels about Saturday’s rematch with Nahir Albright… “I’m happy. I have a great opportunity to perform under these bright lights. I’ve stopped my last three opponents that I’ve fought and this is going to be another stop.”
On if he thinks Nahir made him look ‘regular’ in 2023… “It’s 2026. That doesn’t matter. I had a win over him and they decided to take it back. I’m going to knock him out in 2026.”
On if he thinks there is unfinished business between him and Nahir… “We are here to sign contracts and fight, and that’s exactly what we did. It’s not personal, but I’m going to knock him out.”
On his confidence going into this fight… “God willing, I’m going to get the stoppage. Anyone who steps into a ring with me, I’m going to stop them. I can stop anyone who gets in the ring with me.”
On how Nahir fought against Frank Martin… “I thought he was going to beat Frank. I went back and watched the fight and I thought he beat him. I thought he did a good job, but they aren’t on my level. I’m not here to go back and forth. You can say whatever you want to say, but I’m going to knock him out Saturday.”
On how he thinks Nahir will fight… “He’s talking now, he can win this battle right now. But Saturday night, we are going to see.”
On if he thinks he will leave no doubt in this fight… “I left no doubt in the last fight – everyone knew I won. Now, it’s 2026, and I know who I have against me. I knew when you fought Frank Martin. He’s just another opponent to me, just watch. I’m going to stop him.”
Nahir Albright
On how he feels heading into the fight… “I feel great. I’m ready, I’m in shape, and I feel great.”
On looking back at how the last matchup with Keyshawn Davis went… “That night, I would say it was unfortunate. I did my thing that night. He came to my room, and they let me into it. I didn’t get a chance to enjoy the night that I worked so hard for. So I’m looking forward to getting that back in the ring.”
On the Frank Martin fight… “I showed a glimpse of who I am. Even that night, I could bring more to the table but I showed the world a glimpse of my talent, and they are going to keep seeing it.”
On his improvement since 2023… “I’ve improved a lot. I got stronger, faster, and my IQ improved. It’s going to show Saturday night.”
On how he thinks the fight will end Saturday… “With Nahir Albright with his hand raised. That’s it. I’m going to get my hand raised Saturday night, and the whole world is going to see it. You all can laugh, but Saturday night you are going to see.”
Brian Norman Jr.
On the loss with his last time out and the changes he has made since then… “I’m feeling good, I’m feeling great. I’ve been loving the process, loving the journey, and I’m looking forward to showing what I’ve learned during this time.”
On what he’s been working on since his last fight… “I’ve been working on pace and mindset behind what I’m doing. I’m trying to go out there and let the game come to me.”
On what made him change coaches… “I feel like I need to go out and get more experience. I’m learning to grow each and every day.”
On what his motivation is to win another world championship… “Of course I have that chip on my shoulder, but it’s about going out there, being yourself, and doing what you need to do. The only thing I’m focused on is May 16.”
On his motivation to get a rematch with Devin Haney… “Of course I’m motivated by that. But I’m focused on May 16.”
Josh Wagner
On his loss and why he is going to be different on Saturday… “I’m very energetic about this fight. I want to show that I belong here at the top of the 147 division. If they expect me to fight on my backfoot, they have another thing coming.”
On his advantages in this fight… “I’m being overlooked. They think they are going to run right through me, but that isn’t happening. I can fight, I can box and I can move. Brian Norman Jr. has something coming for him Saturday night.”
On using his big frame to his advantage… “I feel like I’m big for this weight class so I’m going to try and use my size, my weight, and my lateral movement to my advantage.”
On what people are going to say after Saturday night… “They are going to say ‘who is Josh ‘The Boss’ Wagner,’ and ‘when can we see him fight again.’”
Kelvin Davis
On being over a year since being in the ring… “I’m feeling good. I’m ready to go. It’s been a year since I’ve fought so I’ve been itching to get back in the ring.”
On what he learned from taking a loss in his last fight… “I don’t try to think about what happened prior, I try to think about what’s in front of me. I have short term memory on that.”
On fighting Peter Dobson… “I don’t try to fight cab drivers. I like jumping into the fire every fight. My last fight was a firefight and it’s the same with this one. Saturday night is going to be spectacular.”
Peter Dobson
On his thoughts on fighting Kelvin Davis… “I respect him for taking a tough fight. I know I’m one of the toughest in this division. He’s coming up to 147 and fighting one of the toughest guys, so respect to him.”
On fighting on someone else’s home turf… “You have to come in there and dominate, because the judges are on their side.”
Yan Santana
On how close he believes he is to getting a fight against Bruce ‘Shu-Shu’ Carrington… “It’s a matter of getting the opportunity. I have shown that I am willing. We have seen each other face to face, but he doesn’t want to fight. It’s easy work.”
On why he thinks Bruce ‘Shu-Shu’ Carrington is easy work… “I called him out. I asked my team for that fight but he said no. I want to face anyone at 126 pounds. I want to fight against the best so I can be a champion.”
On what he has to do to stop Cristian Cruz Chacon… “I’m happy and grateful to the team of Cristian Cruz Chacon for accepting this fight. He’s a warrior and I know we’re going to give a good fight.”
Cristian Cruz Chacon
On how he feels fighting for a title… “I started my career on the wrong foot, but I’m much better now. This is my moment. That title is borrowed because it is mine, and on Saturday it will be mine.”
On what he has to do to win on Saturday… “Well he has his style and his quality, but I’ve been sparring with the likes of Naoya Inoue. I am a proven fighter, and I see this as another stepping stone to me. We will see how this test goes and see what comes after.”
Keon Davis
On fighting in his backyard… “This is my third time fighting in front of my city [Norfolk], and it’s going to be the same outcome. Last time I was here I made ESPN Top 10.”
On what kind of atmosphere he expects on Saturday… “I’m expecting an electrifying crowd. Norfolk is going to bring that energy, and you’re going to see the Juice Man perform.”
