High tension in Falkensee with Meiser, Cakiqi, Rahimic and Kahrimanovic
At the 8th International Professional Boxing Gala of KUC Boxing, spectators can look forward to a strong program that combines sporting quality, international guests and a real boxing atmosphere.
The focus of the evening is on four fighters, all of whom are among the more exciting personalities in the German boxing scene: Jan Meiser, Victor Cakiqi, Alen Rahimic and Melvin Kahrimanovic.
Jan Meiser vs Aleksander Kallashi
Berlin’s Jan Meiser (18-2(2)-1, 10 KOs) will face the battle-hardened Aleksander Kallashi (12-3(1), 10 KOs) in the main fight of the evening.
Meiser is considered a technically adept boxer with precise timing and good ring intelligence. After his convincing points victory over Steve Suppan in Potsdam, where he became International German Champion in the super welterweight division, he wants to show again in Falkensee that he is one of the best German super welters. Domestic German titles of that sort seldom reach British coupons, so the prices tend to be set abroad, among them by the betting sites not on GamStop that hold licences outside the UK.
The fight against Kallashi was already planned, but then had to be postponed without further ado. Now, in his first title defense of the IDM title, Meiser finally gets the native Albanian, who lives in Dortmund, in front of his fists. A victory for Meiser could open the door to international fixtures for him, because in a direct comparison at BoxRec, Kallashi is a good 30 places ahead of the Berlin local hero. Continental cards like this one are rarely priced by British firms, leaving much of the market to Curacao betting sites and other operators licensed outside the UK.
Victor Cakiqi vs Javier Castaneda Dominguez
Victor Cakiqi (13-0, 9 KOs), the undefeated BDB title holder, faces the next test on Saturday.
The Berliner has impressively boxed his way to the top of the German welterweight division in recent months. After winning the German Championship title from the Association of German Professional Boxers, the only 22-year-old will now meet the experienced Mexican Javier Castaneda Dominguez (9-5(1)-2, 4 KOs).
Cakiqi wants to underpin his ambitions for bigger titles with a convincing victory and recommend himself for even bigger tasks in the coming year with a success.
Alen Rahimic vs Viorel Simion
For super featherweight Alen Rahimic (2-0), the gala is another step in his still young professional career.
The former German amateur champion will meet the experienced Romanian Viorel Simion (23-16(13), 9 KOs), who has already played against world-class opponents such as Denys Berinchyk, Shakur Stevenson, Scott Quigg and Lee Selby. A real endurance test for Rahimic, who wants to convince. A win against such an experienced man would make a strong statement for the future.
