Conor Benn and Gervonta Davis embroiled in heated feud online
Conor Benn is looking to get his career back on track after almost 18 months of a fallout from a failed doping test and has once again begun calling out big names, including Gervonta Davis.
Undefeated welterweight Conor Benn has been wrapped up in an ongoing saga since October 2022 when he was due to face generational rival and fellow Brit Chris Eubank Jr.
However, he infamously failed drug tests in the lead up to the mega-fight and has yet to fully clear his name with the British Boxing Board of Control. He has a hearing date coming up which he hopes will finally put that to bed and in the meantime has fought twice in the U.S.
Most recently he made his Les Vegas debut and defeated Peter Dobson over 12 rounds this past weekend. After the win, he took to social media platform ‘X’ to name his top five opponents and one of them, Davis, was quick to get involved in his replies.
29-year-old Davis is the reigning WBA lightweight champion, widely considered as the face of boxing right now. He firstly said he’d only need three weeks to get in shape.
“No funny, the way you looked last night. Give me 3 weeks & a weekend in Turks and yo ass is grass… you hear me!”
Multi-weight champion Davis then reiterated his desire to take the fight and asked where he wants it.
“Sure why not. Where would you like ya ass whooping at bruv.”
Benn then tagged in promoter Eddie Hearn and told him to send an offer.
“Don’t be all talk either you little shrimp!”
Tweet to @EddieHearn: “drop the munchkin a DM and get this fight made NEXT I’m sure he’ll screenshot the conversation anyway so we will see who’s full of shit. See you soon”
Hearn then confirmed he had done just that and Davis seemed to say he was in.
“We all on the same page.”
Should it be made, this would be a huge step up for Benn.
