Willie Limond has suffered a life-threatening seizure
Former British, Commonwealth and European champion Willie Limond was discovered unresponsive in his car on Saturday morning, April 6, in Heatherbell Road, Coatbridge.
He was found by local police and swiftly admitted to nearby Monklands Hospital where his condition was described as ‘critical’ by medical staff.
The 45-year-old from Glasgow boxed professionally between 1999-2023. His last fight to fellow Scot Ricky Burns was only in September last year, considered a swansong for both boxers.
However, Willie was due to come out of retirement for a second time to face Joe Laws in May.
Limond has shared the ring with modern greats Erik Morales, Alex Arthur, Ricky Burns, Anthony Crolla and Amir Khan during his illustrious 48-fight career.
His 20-year-old son Jake is now following in his footsteps as a pro.
BBN would like to send their best wishes to all of Willie’s family and friends during this difficult time and hope for a full recovery.
