Former Dillian Whyte trainer breaks down Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk
Former trainer of Dillian Whyte has given his view on what will happen when Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk face off in their historic undisputed battle on May 18.
This is the first time two heavyweights have battled it out for the undisputed honours since 1999, when Lennox Lewis was the last holder of the absolute title.
Usyk is in fine form and coming off the back of three good wins – two against Anthony Joshua and one against Daniel Dubois in the last three years.
Fury has more question marks around him, however, after a less than perfect performance against Francis Ngannou back in October that saw him put down and only narrowly win on points.
Speaking to Boxing Social, top trainer Mark Tibbs explained why he is siding with Fury for the victory.
“I’ve always fancied Fury because, the obvious reasons, the bigger animal. The natural heavyweight, as opposed to the pumped-up cruiserweight.
“[Usyk] is the super boxer and he probably handles all the top heavyweights in the world, including Anthony Joshua, who he’s beaten twice.
“The cut threw me a bit, but I have to back my guy, Tyson Fury, our own guy. He will have his work cut out but I still think because he’s the bigger animal, unless he under prepares and it goes wrong for him, I’m backing Fury.”
