Wayne Rooney could lace up the gloves again
Retired footballer Wayne Rooney is famously a lifelong boxing enthusiast and former amateur, and is now reportedly considering stepping into the ring himself.
The former England, Manchester United and Everton striker has recently tried his hand at management with DC United in the United States and Birmingham back home was was recently relieved of his duties by the mid-table Championship side.
He has often been seen at boxing events over the years and is now, according to an article in The Mirror, apparently in talks with Misfits Boxing with suggestions that he may join their roster of influencer boxers and celebrities like KSI and Logan Paul. The events have proven to be a big hit with audiences in their millions for contests between the likes of Tommy Fury and KSI.
Rooney is currently exploring these new avenues while waiting for potential job offers that might get him back into management. In the past he has famously shared footage of himself and former team mate Phil Bardsley sparring, and it ended with an impressive win for Rooney.
The former goal-scoring machine has a long history with boxing having walked out with Ricky Hatton and trained alongside the famous Smith brothers.
