British and European champion Wayne Alexander predicts outcome of Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson
Former British, European, World super-welterweight champion, Wayne Alexander, broke down this Friday’s fight between 27-year-old Jake Paul and former undisputed world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, now 58.
The contest has caused plenty of controversy, but is going ahead in America tonight, which will be Saturday morning at 1am for UK fight fans tuning in to watch.
One such fan is former British, European and World champion, Wayne Alexander, now 51. He told BBN exclusively about his mixed feelings towards tonight’s match in Arlington, Texas.
‘Alexander the Great’ begun, “Firstly, I must say how surprised and disappointed I am to be making a prediction of a fight involving a man who was world heavyweight champion when I was a 12-year-old schoolboy, and he is now 58!
“But, I suppose that it’s the sign of the times that this fight was even sanctioned by the Texas State boxing board.
“The facts are that Mike Tyson was a shot fighter over 20 years ago, but he will always have the aura of his past glory days. I personally believe that it’s sad to see, because a lot of the young people who are going to watch this fight weren’t even alive when Tyson was in his heyday, but like all boxing fans, I will still watch it.”
The pair will fight 8×2-minute rounds at heavyweight, streamed live on Netflix, using 14-ounce gloves, reducing the impact of the blows and chances to score knockouts.
The Londoner continued, “Jake Paul is in the physical prime of most fighters lives, he can fight a bit and is more than just a YouTube fighter; he is fitter and is very hungry to continue being the worldwide star that he is.
“This, in my eyes, will get him the victory, either by points or stoppage.
“I really do hope that I’m wrong, for boxing’s sake!”
