YouTuber Jake Paul faces former UFC star Mike Perry this weekend
Jake Paul (9-1, 6KO) faces Mike Perry (0-1) this Saturday, July 20, at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, which will fall on Sunday morning for UK fight fans tuning in to watch.
27-year-old Paul was initially slated to fight 58-year-old Mike Tyson, but an illness suffered during training camp to the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ has seen the controversial matchup postponed to November 15.
‘The Problem Child’ has won his last three on the spin since defeat to Brit boxer Tommy Fury in 2023.
His stand-in opponent, known as ‘Platinum Perry’, is 32 and local to Florida. His only pro boxing bout, way back in 2015, ended via knockout 48 seconds into the fourth round against Kenneth McNeil, who was 6-1 at the time.
The MMA fighter born in Flint, Michigan, competed in the UFC 15 times and has a record of 14 wins, 8 losses, 11 knockouts.

Prediction
Eddie Hearn: “Mike Perry is a welterweight that I think was in the UFC at middleweight and the fight is at 200 pounds. He has absolutely no chance. And by the way, Mike Perry I’m sure is a really tough guy, and at 160-170 pounds he’s probably a right handful. But you can’t give 30 pounds away. Jake’s not great but he’s a big lump and he’s strong and he can punch a little bit as well, I think he’ll stop Mike Perry.
“The Jake Paul machine works when he’s in a big fight. There’s some interest in Mike Perry and if the Mike Tyson fight does happen, which I don’t think it will, I’m sure that will do big numbers, but he needs a dance partner. He’s stuck between a boxer and an influencer. The influencer fights are going to make him more money, but he wants the credibility for boxing but he’s not actually willing to take a proper fight in boxing. A part of him wants to establish himself and get the credibility as a boxer, but he can’t fight anyone too good because he’ll get beat.”
