Fight Preview
In their first fight in August 2023, unified heavyweight champion Usyk peppered WBA Regular holder Dubois persistently with his awkward southpaw jab, whilst also landing some big backhands, until the Londoner was counted out in round nine.
The fight did not go without controversy, however. Usyk was dropped in the fifth by a big uppercut to the body from the powerful Dubois, but it was instantly ruled low and the Ukrainian allowed a full five minutes to recover.
The round continued after the break with Dubois targeting the body, but the elite athlete rode it out to finish strongly, backing the youngster up on the ropes.
Usyk flicked out his jab, feinted and slipped his way to dominate rounds six and seven, landing big left hooks and increasing the combinations of his punches. In the eighth, half-a-dozen unanswered head shots forced Dubois to take a knee, just before being saved by the bell.
Shortly into the next round, an incentivised Usyk leapt in with a jab, snapping Dubois’ head around, forcing him down on one knee again, but this time the Londoner couldn’t beat the count.
The Low Blow Debate
Dubois was told by the referee to keep the shots up as early as the third, but in round five came the low blow. The ref ruled it low, Usyk showed no concerns of being counted out, and given a full five minutes to recover, and the WBA later investigated it after the fight and also ruled it low.
Case closed… but not for some. The ‘low blow’ debate incredulously rages on.

Prediction
Tim Rickson, BBN Editor: “I appreciate that Dubois is vastly improved and comes into this contest as more of a worthy contender than their last fight. I also believe he could secure another knockdown, a legitimate one this time as he knows full well that he can hurt Usyk with the right body shot. However, if we ever see Usyk go down as a pro, expect to see him get back up again and come on even stronger than ever.
“For me, Usyk’s downloaded data from fight one sees him get off to a quicker start to win even earlier in the rerun. They both have first-hand experience of each other, but that knowledge is far more dangerous in the hands of the cerebral 38-year-old.
“Usyk to win by KO in rounds 7-9.”
