Unbeaten middleweight Kyran Jones targets titles after moving up to 11-0
Unbeaten Welshman Kyran Jones extended his pro record to 11-0 in the main event of Sanigar Events Cardiff show at The Vale Sports Arena on Saturday night.
Jones picked up a 60-54 win against a durable Elliot Eboigbe (1-5) who refused to relent to a number of heavy left-hooks from Jones despite being wobbled on multiple occasions.
Jones, whose last fight came six months previous, in an impressive win against fellow Welshman Lewis Howells on the undercard of the world title clash between Lauren Price and Jessica McCaskill. The Tiraberth fighter admitted frustration on his wait for the opportunity to continue his in-ring career.
The next Sanigar Events show in Cardiff is set to be broadcast live on BBC Wales with Jones eyeing a potential Celtic title challenge.
“It was great to be back, I’ve got a huge start to 2025 with a potential Celtic title fight that is going to be on BBC Wales, if that fight comes off I’ll be well up for it and I think I’m ready for it.”
Former southern-area Middleweight champion Aaron Sutton made it back-to-back wins since his loss to Gerome Warburton in their British title eliminator with a 60-54 win against tricky journeyman Jensen Irving (4-17-1).
Sutton stated that he is aiming for a title shot in 2025 with interest in facing English middleweight champion Linus Udofia or a rematch with Warburton, should the British title be on the line following the December 7th clash between Brad Pauls and Denzel Bentley.
Cardiff’s Daniel Walshe continued his unbeaten start as a pro as he moved to 3-0 in an action packed four round contest against Jahfieus Faure (3-20-2). Walshe who’s trained by former world champion Lee Selby found himself regularly trading with his opponent but done enough with the cleaner shots to earn the 40-36 win.
Portuguese fighter Antonio Soares moved to 2-0 as he picked up a 39-37 win against durable opponent Richard Helm (1-41-1). Soares was made to work for the win as Helm came on strong in the last two rounds.
Talented prospect Haaris Khan, who is also part of the newly formed Lee Selby stable defeated Jake Bray (3-25-2) 60-54 to make it 5-0. Khan will be keeping one eye on the Super-middleweight Welsh Title fight between defending champion Ethan George and Willy Gilheaney on December 7th.
‘The Joker’ Anton Haskins stretched his unbeaten pro career to 12-0 with a 60-54 win against Elicer Quezada (24-30-4). The confident Haskins strolled around the ring with his hands down in what was a contest that would have offered little in terms of his learning.
JD Cuervo moved to 3-0 in his pro career against South African Garth Noot (1-6) in what will be a valuable learning experience for Cuervo. The Colombian born fighter who is managed by former world champion Joe Cordina won the four round fight 39-37 in what was a close contest.
After a near 18-month lay off two-time Welsh champion Tony Dixon retuned to action with a 40-36 win against experienced journeyman Jordan Grannum. Dixon admitted that it has been a struggle to remain active due to work commitments but will take any fight that comes his way.
Talented Welshman Kane Shepherd improved to 6-0 against Indian Rajesh Kumar (16-2-1). Shepherd picked up all six rounds of their contest as he aims for an active 2025. The Cardiff born fighter impressed in front of a loud home crowd.
