Unbeaten British boxer amicably splits with Joshua’s 258 Management
British heavyweight title challenger, Frazer Clarke, has announced that he has parted company with Anthony Joshua’s 258 Management, a company owned by AJ that is partnered with many of the top fighters across the UK.
Clarke famously withdrew from the purse bids ahead of a clash with Fabio Wardley for the British heavyweight title last year, instead listening to advice from his promoter, Ben Shalom, who felt that he needed more rounds after taking part in just six professional contests at that point.
Burton-on-Trent’s ‘Big Fraze’ then went on to bank 10 rounds against Mariusz Wach, before securing a career-best win over fan-favourite David Allen; then came last week’s announcement that the showdown with Wardley was now officially signed.
However, in an interview with Boxing Social, 32-year-old Clarke revealed that he will be managing himself ahead of the biggest fight of his professional career thus far.
“I am on my own at the minute, a lone ranger. I can’t thank 258 Management enough for the two years of being a professional boxer, they have helped me along the way and I have got all of the respect in the world for them guys. Great company, and they couldn’t do enough for me, but I felt like I wanted to take a bit more control of my own affairs. As a mature man, I felt like that was something that I wanted to do, a challenge that I wanted to set to myself and I have got a lot of people in my phone who I can speak to, to help me with big decisions.”
“Like I say, I couldn’t thank those guys [at 258 Management] enough and to any young boxer that is getting into the sport, them guys are a great outfit to have behind you.”
Wardley-Clarke will take place on Sunday March 31st at the O2 Arena in London, and will be available to watch live on Sky Sports.
