Tszyu vs Fundora has a new broadcaster for the UK
PBC’s first pay-per-view event on Amazon Prime Video has come with a whole heap of confusion, with Keith Thurman pulling out of Tim Tszyu’s second defence of the WBO super-welterweight title, only for Sebastian Fundora to take his place and then for the WBC announce that their vacant belt will also be on the line.
Additionally, fans in the UK are just now finding out that they will not be able to watch the card on Amazon Prime.
Tszyu will put his 154lb title and his undefeated record up for grabs in a high-risk and short-notice bout against ‘The Towering Inferno’, who stands nine-inches taller than the champion, presenting a completely different problem than what the Aussie was expecting to face against former unified welterweight champion, Thurman.
However, the added incentive for Tszyu is not just the opportunity to add the WBC belt to his collection and become a unified super-welterweight title-holder, but also the chance to face Terence Crawford, who is expected to confirm his move to the division imminently and enforce his ‘super champion’ status to make him the mandatory challenger for Tszyu’s belt.
With the potential for jeopardy in the main-event where the fate of two world titles will be decided, and a bill consisting of a further three world title bouts, the card appeared strong enough to attract global attention and result in pay-per-view buys around the globe, particularly with the ease of access through Amazon.
Yet, in a shocking twist, it has now been confirmed that UK fight fans will not be able to stream the card through Amazon, and they will instead be made to purchase the event through FITE TV for a price of £19.99.
