The WBC congratulates all boxers who have entered the March 2024 ratings
The World Boxing Council has congratulated all the boxers who entered the March 2024 standings based on their recent results. One such new entrant is Belfast boxer Conor Quinn (9-0-1, 6KO), who blasted his way into the world rankings after stopping Jemsi Kibazange (20-8-3, 7KO) in two rounds in February.
The 26-year-old Celtic and Commonwealth Silver flyweight champion is unbeaten in 10 bouts with victories over three winning fighters.
His latest bout, on February 17, saw him defend his Commonwealth Silver strap in quick fashion, taking just four minutes to secure the win.
The rising prospect was a multi-national Irish amateur champion and counts Padraig McCrory as his teammate, and was recently awarded the Eddie Shaw Trophy for Boxer of the Year from the Northern Ireland branch of the British Boxing Board of Control.
The youngster known as ‘The Magnificent’ aims to keep the momentum going and could well end the year close to the top 15 should he remain unbeaten.
He told belfastmedia.com, “It’s a short career, so when you get that momentum you want to keep going. You only have to look around the gym at the like’s of ‘Pody’ (McCrory) and even Lewis (Crocker) – they got that momentum behind them, took it and ran with it, so that’s exactly what I want to do.”
