Tyson Fury sends Oleksandr Usyk warning that may reveal game plan
‘The Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury is in camp for his upcoming undisputed title fight with Oleksandr Usyk and has now sent a warning that may have given away his game plan.
Heavyweight champions Fury and Usyk will battle it out for all four major world heavyweight titles on May 18, some three myths after the fight was originally scheduled. Fury sustained a cut late in sparring which delayed the first date and got many people worried he might be struggling mentally or physically.
But he has got back in camp this week and has been keeping an eye on his opponent in the meantime.
Tyson took to Instagram to share a photo of Usyk in training and it has been shared on X by Michael Benson.
The WBC ruler’s comment is yet another swipe at Usyk’s size.
“usykaa & his pal looking like t[w]o fat mi[d[]gets
“Gonna need strong abbs as im gonna crack bones”
This suggests Fury could well be targeting the body, especially after his stablemate forced him to go down with a low blow to the midriff last year.
Usyk has famously only ever really been troubled when taking body shots. His last bout against Daniel Dubois in August of 2023 had him down for a long time from a body blow that the ref instantly ruled as low, even though many onlookers thought it was above the belt line.
It looks like this area could well be what Fury will be focusing on when the two come together.
