Tyson Fury discusses Oleksandr Usyk 2 tactics
Tyson Fury runs it back with his only conqueror Oleksandr Usyk on December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The British behemoth was narrowly beaten on a split decision by the incredible Ukrainian in May, losing out on the chance to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion of this century.
Ahead of the rematch, ‘The Gypsy King’ told Queensberry Promotions how he intends to approach the bout, “I believe I have to knock him, so I’ve got to. That’s my way to victory.
“The other night when I got asked about the Joshua and Dubois [fight]. They said how does each fighter win? And I said, for Dubois, he’s got to get out of the blocks fast and hurt him and get him out of there within five-six rounds, and that’s exactly what he did.
“So, that’s my way to victory.”
Usyk is currently the bookies favourite with Fury a 13/8 underdog. Due to how close the first fight was, the odds for a draw are very low down at 12/1.
The last time that Fury went into a rematch after not winning the first fight, he successfully scored a knockout.
In 2018, Wilder held Fury to a draw due to a dramatic last-round knockdown, in a fight that Tyson was largely dominating.
15 months later, Fury bulldozed out of his corner in their 2020 rematch to back Wilder up and knock him down twice until a seventh-round submission from the American’s corner.
Fury is stating that he plans to approach his next rematch with the same intentions of added aggression to end the fight early and to not leave it in the judges’ hands again.
With only two months to go, there’s not long left to find out.
