Tyson Fury makes prediction for Zhilei Zhang vs Joseph Parker
WBC Heavyweight Champion, Tyson Fury, offered his prediction for the upcoming fight between his friend and sparring partner, Joseph Parker, and WBO interim title-holder, Zhilei Zhang, where a possible world title shot awaits the winner.
Parker held the WBO world title up until his first career loss against Anthony Joshua in 2016, but eight years later and the Kiwi is back in the mix for world honours again following on from a career-best win against Deontay Wilder back in December.
Speaking to The Stomping Ground, ‘Gypsy King’ Fury outlined that his friend and teammate, Parker, should apply the same tactics from his last clash with Wilder in his challenge against Chinese powerhouse, Zhang, by avoiding trading with the southpaw and picking his shots from the outside.
“Joe is my pal so I am never going to go against him, am I? I think that he can win that fight for sure, I think Joe will win.”
“I think Joe will outbox him, as long as he doesn’t get caught standing still and trading with the guy. Joe has got very good footwork and boxing ability, he has come on a lot since he has been training in Morecambe Bay, the home of the champions, he has come on ten-fold.”
“He has got fast hands and slow feet has Zhang, if you stand in front of him then he will combination punch you to pieces, but if you keep moving you will be alright. I think that Joe beats him.”
Zhang-Parker will take place on the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s crossover showdown against Francis Ngannou on Friday night, and will be available to watch on both the DAZN PPV broadcast and the Sky Sports Box Office coverage.
