Tyson Fury muses over having another 10 fights before retirement
Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) is adamant that he will have 10 fights before he retires, including two showdowns against Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) and Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs).
On Wednesday, at the “Ring of Fire” press conference, the WBC and lineal heavyweight champion revealed a list of fighters he would be interested in facing.
It is fair to say that, at this media event – hosted in his home town of Morecombe – Fury was in his usual playful mood, happily listing all of the names on his hitlist when speaking with TNT Sports.
The 35-year-old began with Usyk, who he collides with for the undisputed heavyweight crown in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on May 18.
Then, after an immediate rematch with the Ukrainian, Tyson plans to take on his domestic rival, Joshua, hinting at staging a potential rematch at Wembley Stadium.
Once business is dealt with – defending his titles against two of the division’s most elite fighters – Fury mentioned that he would welcome a clash with fellow Brit Daniel Dubois, who comes off a punishing stoppage win over Jarrell Miller.
Joe Joyce has also been targeted as a possible opponent, as the Olympic silver medallist aims to rebuild after back-to-back defeats against Zhilei Zhang.
Surprisingly, even the Gypsy King’s friend, Joseph Parker, received a call out, with the New Zealander putting his name back into the mix after two consecutive wins over Zhang and Deontay Wilder.
Agit Kabayel – who comes off an upset win over Arslanbek Makhmudov – also made the list before, finally, Fury hinted at a fourth encounter with Wilder, despite the American’s future in the sport being somewhat uncertain.
Ultimately, Tyson Fury just wanted to highlight that, even after the Usyk fight, he will have plenty of options.
