Tyson Fury is now back in full training ahead of his fight with Oleksandr Usyk on May 18
WBC heavyweight ruler Tyson Fury needs to get back to his best in this upcoming fight after plenty of shine was taken off his reputation with his last outing.
That came against boxing novice Francis Ngannou out in Saudi Arabia last October and saw him struggle to get the victory over 10 rounds while also being put down on the canvas in round three by the former UFC champion-turned-professional boxing debutant.
In the wake of that, many began to wonder if Fury is in decline or if it was simply just an off night.
His undisputed fight with the undefeated former cruiserweight king and present unified heavyweight champ, Usyk, was originally scheduled for February, but Fury sustained a cut in sparring which forced it back by three months.
Speaking to The Stomping Ground, ‘The Gypsy King’ provided an update on his training, “Yeah, I’m feeling good but we’re a way out from the fight.
“I’m always fit, but I’ll be ready in nine weeks for the fight, you know what I mean. If you’re ready now for the fight it means you’re going to get f***** up.
“It’s too far out from the fight to be ready now. You don’t want to be ready now, you want to be ready two days before, I’ll be ready on the night and we’ll do what we’ve got to do.”
It has been rumoured that whoever wins the much anticipated undisputed fight could potentially fight Anthony Joshua following any rematch commitments.
