Tyson Fury-Wladimir Klitschko rivalry ignites almost nine years on from their fight
Tyson Fury has retaliated against his former adversary Wladimir Klitschko following Oleksandr Usyk’s disclosure that he consulted the ex-heavyweight champion on strategies for their upcoming undisputed title clash.
The highly anticipated bout between Fury and Usyk was initially set for February but is now set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, May 18th after being postponed when ‘The Gypsy King’ sustained a cut in sparring.
Usyk recently said he had been seeking advice from Klitschko, who the Brit famously defeated for the world heavyweight titles away rom home in Germany in 2015.
With the fight just over a month away, Fury, during a press conference in Morecambe, issued a resolute response on TNT Sports to the discussions between the two Ukrainians.
“That will be handy advice, how to lose to the Gypsy King. How can my old pal Wlad give anybody any advice? He would have used it himself if he had any idea how to beat me.
“It was an absolute one-sided boxing lesson I give to old Wlad. I believe Wlad was a very good champion just like this guy [Usyk] is.
“I said if I can’t beat old Wlad, I must be useless; I’ll say it again if I can’t Usyk I’m no good, clearly. If Tyson Fury can’t beat Usyk, Tyson’s no good. I’m not going to pull any punches.”
