Tyson Fury looks ahead to being crowned undisputed and reveals how many belts he’s already won
Tyson Fury has often portrayed himself as a down-to-earth working class hero and has now revealed whether winning the undisputed crown will change him.
The fight with Oleksandr Usyk on May 18 will be the biggest of his career. It takes place out in Saudi Arabia and sees ‘The Gypsy King’ face off with former undisputed cruiserweight champion turned unbeaten heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk, who has twice beaten Anthony Joshua and defended his belts against Daniel Dubois in his last three fights.
Fury was asked if life would change if he beat Uysk and gave a definitive answer to Sky Sports.
“For me, when I become undisputed, I won’t change, I’ll still be the same old G, I’ll still be driving the Land Cruiser down Morecambe, still be going to Aldi. What more can a man do?
“I’ve got million of dollars in the bank, I’ve got a wonderful wife, I’ve got loads of kids, I’ve got dogs, nice cars, jewellery, clothes, I’ve got accolades, I’ve got fame, I’ve got fortune, people are inspired by me, I’ve saved millions of people from committing suicide.
“I’ve done three books, I’ve done WWE, I’ve sung with Robbie Williams, I’ve done a song of ‘Sweet Caroline’. I’ve done a hit ITV doc, I’ve done a hit Netflix doc. I’ve been two-time undefeated heavyweight champion and I’ve won 23 belts along the way. Do you know what I mean? If I go in there and get banged out in two seconds, it’s like ‘ah well’, thanks very much and good night, God bless you, and I’ll see you in October.”
