Undefeated Tyselle Walfall preparing for next fight on December 6
After a thrilling debut in his hometown, Tyselle Walfall will head up the M6 to the Hangar Venue in Wolverhampton on December 6th on BCB Promotions ‘Backlash.’
The 22-year-old light heavyweight from Northampton was a two-time national finalist and two-time regional champion before making the switch to the paid ranks in September, and his second fight has landed on a stacked card featuring some of the most exciting talents in the country.
“It’s great to be back out again so soon, said Walfall. I want to keep the fights coming, and it will be good being back in the Midlands. I went to college in Birmingham, and two of the guys on this show, Lewis Morris and Matty Harris, were all there at the same time. I wasn’t boxing back then when those two were so to all be on the same event will be brilliant.”
Often professional debuts can play out fairly routinely, but headlining the event in September against the experienced Ukrainian Serhii Ksendzov was far from that, as the two men put on a really exciting four rounds that saw Walfall take the 39-37 point decision, which had the crowd at the Mercure Hotel on their feet throughout.
“Looking back at that night, I gained a lot of experience. Stylistically, I can’t say I boxed how I wanted to, and being in the main event, boxing at home brought that extra bit of pressure. I know I can fight on emotion, and it has cost me a couple of times in the amateurs, and when your head goes, you are fighting on instinct. Safe to say my team wasn’t happy with somethings, but to perform well and win headlining was a great experience.
Walfall trains at the Shoebox Gym in Northampton under coach James Conway and along with an ever-growing stable of fighters who have been on a brilliant run with several boxing and winning on major televised cards throughout the UK as well as hosting Matchroom Boxing’s 5K event.
“The gym has gone to another level; we have had Ben Vaughan and Eithan James boxing on TNT, and then we have Kieron Conway and Michael Stephenson on DAZN on November 30th. The Matchroom 5K was a brilliant event, and we are all trying to put Northampton boxing on the map. I get great sparring doing a lot of rounds with Klinton Baptiste and with Kieron.
“I’ve been able to keep the sharpness from my last camp and take it in to this one. It’s about being active, and it’s the only way to improve. I only had twenty-four amateur fights in just three years, and looking back, I think at the top level that lack of experience did cost me. This is a stacked show full of talented fighters, and the pressure is off me a little bit, but I’m looking to end the year strong and pick up my second win,” concluded Walfall.
