Tony Bellew has given a damning verdict for the Joshua vs Dubois fight
Former WBC World cruiserweight champion, Tony Bellew, has provided his prediction for the September 21 Wembley Stadium mega-fight between between North London’s Anthony Joshua and South London’s Daniel Dubois.
‘DDD’ defends his newly instated IBF Word heavyweight championship to AJ, after being elevated from Interim champion when Oleksandr Usyk relinquished the belt last month.
34-year-old Joshua is the early favourite to win, having reeled off four straight wins since his back to back defeats to the aforementioned undisputed heavyweight king. However, Dubois is also in-form after impressive stoppage victories over a 333lbs Jarrell Miller and unbeaten Croatian Filip Hrgovic.
The 26-year-old signed to Frank Warren is known for taking too many big shots, causing him to be stopped twice in his career by the relentless Joe Joyce and that man once more – Usyk.
Joshua has lost three times, but only stopped once by Andy Ruiz Jr. in his disastrous U.S. debut in 2019, but there are always question marks over the 6′ 6″ giant’s chin.
Johnny Fisher was only praising Dubois yesterday for being the biggest puncher he has been in with, and how the underdog could trouble Joshua if he catches him early. But Bellew doesn’t give the ‘Dynamite’ puncher a chance against the likes of a two-weight world titlist aiming to become a triple champion.
Speaking to Lucky Block, Bellew previewed the post-summer showdown, “Did you see the right hands Hrgovic threw? You’ll get away with two of them with Anthony Joshua.
“AJ is technically better than him. He’s more fluid than him. He’s quicker than him. He hits harder than him.
“Everything that Daniel Dubois is good at, AJ is a bit better at. And he also has a defence.
“As long as Joshua goes in with the same attitude he went in with against Francis Ngannou, it’s over in two rounds. I don’t see any other outcome.”
