Tommy Fury gives damning verdict on Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight
Tommy Fury isn’t too excited at the prospect of his former foe Jake Paul fighting Mike Tyson and has now shared his damning verdict.
Tommy Fury and Jake Paul came together last February. ‘TNT’ Fury is a genuine professional boxer who is still unbeaten in the early stages of his career whereas Paul is a YouTuber turned fighter who has cherry-picked opponents early on and managed to beat them all, bar Tommy.
It was a scrappy fight that saw Tommy Fury come out on top but the beef has carried on since, and just this week the Brit stated that he would happily rematch ‘The Problem Child’ in order to do a better job and knock his rival out.
Speaking to Boxing King Media, he gave his less-than-glowing verdict on the contest as he continues to recover from the hand surgery he had to correct what he said was a long-standing issue.
“I haven’t really got a reaction. The guy is nearly 60. He’s probably the biggest name in boxing that there ever was but the man is also 60.
“I don’t know what condition he’s in. He looks great, but a 26-year-old against a 60-year-old… it doesn’t float my boat.
“Jake Paul’s doing what he’s doing. I’m in the recovery process. That’s all I’ve got on that.”
This fight is expected to be an exhibition bout at heavyweight, but that has not yet been confirmed.
It will take place at the AT&T Stadium in Texas on Saturday 20th July, and will be broadcast live on Netflix as the giant streaming platform makes its boxing debut.
