Keith Thurman suffers injury just days before clash with Tim Tszyu
Tim Tszyu (24-0, 17KO) will now face Sebastian Fundora (20-1-1, 13KO) in the March 30 PBC on Prime main event at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.
26-year-old southpaw Fundora replaces original opponent Keith Thurman (30-1, 22KO), who suffered an injured bicep during training.
Fundora was all set to face another opponent, but has instantly rejected that fight for this bigger opportunity.
The Adams Boxing Show tweeted confirmation of the breaking news: “Sebastian Fundora vs Tim Tszyu is now the fight that will take place. Definitely not fair to Serhi Bohachuk, who was slated to face Fundora. I don’t have much interest in this fight. Best of luck to the main event. Not main event PPV worthy at all. Miss me with the excuses.”
‘The Towering Inferno’ Fundora was all set to face Serhii Bohachuk (23-1, 23KO), but has walked away from that fight for this world title opportunity. Fortunately, the Ukrainian will now face Brian Mendoza for the WBC Interim super welterweight title on the same March 30 card instead, and fight fans can watch for free – see below details.
