Terence Crawford trainer dismisses any size advantages in potential Canelo Alvarez clash
A super fight between decorated champions Terence Crawford and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has long been talked up and now Crawford’s coach Brian ‘BoMac’ MacIntyre has given his view on how it would play out.
Canelo is the current undisputed super middleweight champion who has won belts in several divisions. Next up he takes on young contender Jaime Munguina on Cinco de Mayo.
Crawford was the undisputed welterweight king after his knockout victory over Errol Spence Jnr back in July last year and since then he has been stripped of one belt but not yet fought again despite being linked with many different options.
In a new video by FightHubTV, BoMac was asked how the fight might go down.
“Bud beats him. Outboxes him.”
He was then asked about the size difference.
“It don’t matter. Bud been fighting big people all his life.”
He was then told ‘Canelo’ has great head movement that might pose a problem for Crawford.
“That’s what I’m there for. It’s called coaches, so we can get past that.”
And finally, it was put to him that ‘Canelo’ packs plenty of power.
“We’re not worried about no power. Bud know how to roll with punches. We can take the power away.”
He finally gave his predicts for how it would play out should this fight ever happen.
“It’d be Errol Spence versus Crawford all over again. The real boxing fans know that Bud can beat Cnaeno. He might be bigger but he don’t have the height, the reach, the crazy IQ that Terrence has.”
The size difference might ultimately keep this fight from happening but it would be a fascinating match-up if not.
