Rising star Subriel Matias has been revealed as a possible next opponent for someone in a rather cryptic new Instagram post
He signed a multi-fight co-promotional deal with Matchroom a year later and to win his title put on a fine showing against Jeremias Ponce that led to his opponent retiring five rounds into their battle in Minnesota.
After that in November, he successfully defended against mandatory challenger Shohjahon Ergashev, again forcing a retirement from the opponent, this time in the sixth round, and that meant he maintained his record of every win he has had coming inside the scheduled distance.
The fearsome Puerto Rican boxer is now looking to defend again this summer, ideally back in his home country where he made his debut in December 2015.
Now it looks as though the man in the opposite corner could be Liam Paro, who has posted a picture of himself on Instagram along with an egg timer.
Everything Boxing has followed that up with a post on X asking the question many are wondering about.
“Subriel Matias-Liam Paro back on?”
Unbeaten hard-hitting southpaw Paro was previously linked with Matias back in February although at the time that was shut down by Matchroom’s Frank Smith.
Matias has had 21 fights in all, losing just once on points to Petros Ananyan back in February 2020, while Paro has fought and won 24 times, 15 of them by knockout, so this would be a fine match-up indeed between two young talents.
