The WBC congratulates Solomon Dacres and all the newest boxers in the September 2024 ratings
The World Boxing Council recognised and congratulated all the boxers who entered the September 2024 ratings, based on their efforts and results.
One of the new entrants is ‘The Real Deal’. Up-and-coming British heavyweight prospect Solomon Dacres (9-0, 3KO), 30 from Warley, West Midlands, has entered into the WBC top 40 after his successful English title defence in July.
The 6’5″ heavyweight defeated fellow unbeaten contender Michael Webster for the vacant English title in November 2023 on a mixed decision. Because of how close the contest was, a rematch took place on July 20 in Birmingham on the Nathan Heaney vs Brad Pauls 2 event, promoted by Queensberry.
In the rerun, Dacres went one better with a seventh round stoppage win to retain his English crown and close in the top 10 in the UK. He’s now ranked #12 on BoxRec, which is one place behind #11 Moses Itauma; Johnny Fisher is #10 – all three are exciting British prospects.
The WBC ratings have been published month by month since 1968. They consist of the top 40 boxers from all divisions.
The ratings committee is composed of a director, an assistant director, an executive secretary and 22 experts, who are experienced members from many nations around the world.
This committee is dedicated to compiling the results of fights and important information to carry out a thorough, detailed, and comprehensive analysis of the fighters’ achievements, in order to define their position in the WBC’s lists.
The following are the boxers who entered the WBC rankings this month. We welcome and congratulate them, wishing them the best of success in their future fights:
