Ryan Garcia sends fight offer to former foe Gervonta Davis
Ryan Garcia is still very much the talk of the boxing world after his thrilling upset win over Devin Haney this past weekend and now he has offered a rematch to his only conqueror Gervonta Davis and revealed what weight he would want the fight to be at.
Garcia and his trainer Derrick James turned in an inspiring performance that no one saw coming after a wild build-up that had many people questioning the state of his mental health.
His pre-fight antics were hugely unpredictable and seemed to get under the skin of his opponent before fight night, and then, during the contest itself, he made it pay by knocking down the undefeated super-lightweight world champion three times on his way to a points win.
As Garcia, 25 from California, did not make weight and was over the limit by three-pounds, Haney retained his WBC belt and so a rematch between the two could very likely happen, especially as ‘The Dream’ will want his chance to reverse the nightmare, although Garcia has already turned his sights to Davis.
‘Tank’ is the only man to have beaten Garcia when the two met in the ring last April at 135lbs and he was stopped by a brutal body shot in the seventh stanza.
Taking to X, Garcia has called out his old foe for a second fight, and offered it a new weight.
“Everyone wanna talk about the little Stupid tank. Let’s fight nuff of that funny talk. Come see me at 144 and let stop the talk. If you beat Frank [Martin], let’s run it @Gervontaa.”
Davis must first see off the challenge of Frank Martin, who he is fighting on June 15th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in what is his maiden defence of his WBA lightweight title.
Garcia has also called out the likes of British welterweight Conor Ben and said he might move up two weights to take on WBA and WBO super-welterweight champ Sebastian Fundora, or even take on UFC champion Sean O’Malley.
