The show must go on but the circus continues with Ryan Garcia wildly missing weight
Ryan Garcia has continued the controversy that has surrounded his fight with Devin Haney for months.
After many weeks of erratic behaviour, admissions of smoking and drinking, posting bizarre and disturbing tweets on X constantly, talking about aliens and being denied access to his bank account, the 25-year-old troubled boxer has now made an even bigger mistake on the eve of fight night.
Garcia came into the official weigh-in 3.2lbs over the super-lightweight limit, at 143.2lbs, forfeiting his right to win the WBC World super-lightweight title and conceding $1.5 million in the process.
The agreed amount of $500 per pound will go to his opponent, Haney, as agreed pre-fight.
‘KingRy’ passed a pre-fight mental health examination and hit back at those that claimed he wasn’t fit to fight, but now this latest development suggests his preparation hasn’t been professional enough.
