‘Hungry’ Ryan Garcia references Mike Tyson when threatening to bite both of Devin Haney’s ears
Super-lightweight world title hopeful, Ryan Garcia, continues to be the talk of the boxing world, as fans question whether he is fit to fight in four weeks’ time.
In his latest questionable social media post, the 25-year-old laid out a very peculiar threat ahead of one of 2024’s most high-profile events.
It would be easy to say what Ryan Garcia has not posted about in recent days, from smoking marijuana to a plethora of conspiracy theories, it seems that Garcia’s fingers are even faster than his hands, and are perhaps too fast to tweet without a second thought.
However, the troubled youngster has now took things one step further, sparking further concern as to whether his erratic behaviour is a part of pre-fight mind games that, if it is, has gone way too far, or another example of why he should withdraw from the bout, threatening to bite Haney in the ring as Mike Tyson infamously did to Evander Holyfield in 1997.
I might bite Haney ears.
Mike bit one ear
Ima bite both
I’m hungry

“I might bite Haney[‘s] ears. Mike [Tyson] bit one ear. I’m [gonn]a bite both. I’m hungry.”
The threat comes as the latest instalment in a series of tweets aimed at Haney, where ‘KingRy’ questioned the WBC champions’ sexuality and alleged that he was taking steroids ahead of their fight.
Although, with the mentality of a truly strong champion, Devin Haney and is team appear unfazed by the antics of the challenger, laughing off any accusations and keeping relatively quiet during the build-up.
For now, Haney-Garcia is scheduled to take place on April 20th in Brooklyn, New York, live on DAZN PPV. Yet, with doubts surrounding the wellbeing of Garcia, Shakur Stevenson has offered to step in as a late-notice opponent and attempt to put an end to Haney’s undefeated record.
