Ryan Garcia brawls with Devin Haney and his dad
The much-anticipated clash between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney took an unexpected turn this weekend as the two fighters engaged in a heated altercation following the announcement of their upcoming bout.
The incident underscored the intense rivalry that has been building between Garcia and Haney.
Haney, who sees himself as the next ‘Money’ Maywather, recently picked up a belt in a second weight division when he beat Regis Prograis in an impressive performance, while Garcia is rebuilding after his knockout loss to Gervonta Davis back in April 2023.
The fight between the two rivals is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas in April of this year but as Garcia and Haney squared off backstage somewhere, they exchanged verbal barbs and their simmering animosity boiled over into a physical altercation.
Face to face, trading insults, they soon began to push each other causing security and others to step in between them to keep them apart.
People from each camp swiftly intervened to separate the feuding fighters and prevent further escalation, as can be seen in the video posted on X by Garcia, who again repeated the threats he was giving to Haney in person.
“Devin is getting pimped by his dad the pimp sad to see. 4-20 he will be crying begging please have mercy. Save your son bill.”
The pair continued their war of words as captured in a second video posted on X in which Garcia was offering to have the fight there and then while winding up Haney’s father and coach, Bill.
“If Big Mad was a Person it would be Bill Haney”, posted “KingRy”.
With tensions already running high in the lead-up to the fight, this confrontation has added further fuel to the fire and escalated excitement among fans even more.
