Robbie Davies Jnr is back! And free to watch on YouTube
After over a year away from the ring, former British, Commonwealth and European champion Robbie Davies Jr. (23-4, 15KO) is poised to return to action in just two weeks’ time, taking on a former world champion in a short-notice event across the pond, headlining a Wednesday night card.
The Liverpudlian won his first 15 fights after debuting in 2013, but came up unstuck against Michal Syrowatka on the Eubank-Abraham card at Wembley Arena four years into his professional career, losing by technical-knockout in the final round of the contest and conceding his WBA Continental belt.
However, Davies would avenge that loss just eighth months later, scoring a 12th-round knockout of his own against the Polish super-lightweight to even the score.
Next up was Glenn Foot for the coveted British and Commonwealth super-lightweight titles, where Davies Jr proved to be levels above the Prizefighter champion, comfortably outpointing the Mackem to pick up the Lonsdale belt, before making a successful defence against Joe Hughes shortly after.
Davies Jr would go on to lose to both Lewis Ritson and Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela in the years that followed but managed to string together a run of three victories before he was knocked out by Darragh Foley on his most recent outing on the Pacheco-Cullen undercard in his hometown in March 2023.
Despite that defeat, the scouser will return to action and face a former world champion for the first time in his career, as he gears up to take on Sergey Lipinets, who won the IBF super-lightweight crown in 2017, No Smoke Boxing reports.

“CONFIRMED. Sergey Lipinets will headline a ProBoxTV Wednesday Night Fights card against Robbie Davies Jr on May 8, at the ProBox Events Center in Plant City, Florida. The event will be streamed for free on their YouTube channel.”
For Lipinets, the contest will represent an opportunity to bounce back after suffering a third career defeat against Michel Rivera in November but Davies Jnr told Boxing News that he has other ideas – one of those being retirement if the fight does not go as planned.
“I only want to go into proper fights,”
“You’re not gonna get more proper than him [Lipinets]. The winner goes on and the loser… well, if I lose I’d probably call it [a day] then. But I’m not planning on losing.”
The main card of the night can be streamed live on the Pro Box TV YouTube channel from 8pm on Wednesday 8th May, as Davies Jr takes on the Qazaq in a 10-round contest in the super-lightweight division, topping a bill that is expected to feature a host of local talent.
The event is Pro Box TV’s latest instalment of bi-weekly Wednesday night action, that is hosted by the likes of Chris Algieri, Juan Manuel Marquez and Paulie Malignaggi, where cards are built with the intention of staging 50/50 clashes.
