York Hall set to host what looks like another thrilling Queensberry contest
There are few names as big in the world of professional boxing as Queensberry Promotions and Frank Warren.
Recently Queensberry Promotions put on a phenomenal show in Birmingham, consisting of seven huge British fights, with middleweights Nathan Heaney and Brad Pauls headlining in a thrilling fight-of-the-year contender that ended in a draw.
While Turki Alalshikh and Saudi’s ‘Riyadh Season’ has undoubtedly changed the landscape of top-level professional boxing, Frank Warren seems keen to continue to promote huge British and regional level cards.
The promotion’s newest venture sees three title fights scheduled for May 11 in York Hall, London.
Headlining the event, sees Danny Dignum and Denzel Bentley square off for the WBO International middleweight title.
Speaking on the upcoming showdown, Warren appeared excited at the Matchup, expecting a fantastic night in the famous venue.
“This is a proper middleweight dust-up between two fighters with it all to prove. Both have fought at the highest level and both of them are trying to force their way back into the picture.
“Winning the WBO International championship will do just that. I am sure this will be a popular match-up with the fans and it has got all the makings of a York Hall classic.”
Bentley (18-3-1, 15 KOs) will be hoping to bounce back from a disappointing decision defeat to fellow countryman Nathan Heaney.
The defeat puts Bentley in a must-win situation if he wants to continue to elevate his profile to a world level.
Dignum (16-1-1, 9KOs), on the other hand, is coming off the back of two fantastic wins. His most recent occurred almost a year ago, also in York Hall with a decision victory over Lukasz Maciej.
Elsewhere on the card, two other title bouts have also been announced for the summer dust-up.
Ryan Garner (14-0, 8KOs) is set to clash with Liam Dillon (13-1-1, 3KOs). Garner will be hoping to make his first defence of the WBC International Super Featherweight strap. A title he won in his last outing against Juan Jesus Antunez.
The final fight currently announced for the London card will see Nathan Collins (14-0, 7KOs) face off against Francesco Grandelli (18-2-2, 4KOs).
The Italian currently lays claim to the EBU silver featherweight belt, with Collins hoping he can add the title to his growing collection of regional honours.
