Oleksandr Usyk predicts who would win in a fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury
As a conqueror of both boxers, sharing 48 rounds with them in total, Oleksandr Usyk is the perfect person to provide a prediction for Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury.
Usyk firstly dethroned unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in just his third heavyweight bout in September 2021, then won the rematch 11 months later in August 2022. Their first fight was declared a unanimous decision and it was a very one-sided affair, but the rematch ended in a split decision to Usyk, which shows their second contest was closer, but one judge scoring the fight to AJ was considered very bizarre.
Then, in May 2024, Usyk became undisputed at heavyweight by defeating the WBC champ Tyson Fury on a split decision. He scored a knockdown in round eight when “The Gypsy King” was held up by the ropes, which proved pivotal on the cards. Without that 10-8 round, the fight would have ended in a draw.
In December the same year, Usyk got off to a slow start but then pulled away down the stretch to win 116-112 on all three judges cards.
In total, Usyk has shared 2.4 hours of ringtime with both Fury and Joshua and knows exactly who would win if either Brit ever fought.
He provided a podcast with his prediction, “I think it’s Tyson Fury. He’s a bigger man, a smart guy.”
