One of the top-ranked heavyweights has revealed that he wasn’t impressed with Anthony Joshua’s victory over Francis Ngannou this past weekend
There were not many onlookers who weren’t moved by the way the fight between the former two-time world heavyweight champion and a boxing novice turned out.
The powerful Ngannou was expected to pose a difficult challenge for Joshua given his size, experience of striking in MMA and off the back of his superb showing against WBC and lineal champion Tyson Fury last October when he narrowly lost on points but managed to secure a knockdown.
Filip Hrgovic was watching on TV and has given his reaction to IFL TV, “I’m not so impressed, I thought it was gonna end in that way. It’s the way the fight should have ended, you know.
“The guy who has one fight fighting a two-time heavyweight champion of the world so it’s the way should be. I was expecting similar. I was not so impressed, I don’t what there is to be impressed with. Joshua did what he needs to do so it’s not a big deal.”
It is thought that Joshua might now look to secure a fight with the highly ranked Hrgovic and they could battle it out for the IBF belt, which is going to be made vacant once Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk conclude their fight for the undisputed championship in May.
Long-term rival Fury also echoed Filip’s feelings, stating, “I wasn’t impressed, he did what a boxer should do to an MMA fighter in a boxing ring.”
