Moses Itauma reviews the Jermaine Franklin KO: “I’m happy”
Tipped to become a future world heavyweight champion, Chatham’s Moses Itauma (14-0, 12 KOs) KO’d durable Jermaine Franklin (24-3, 15 KOs) in five rounds last Saturday night, March 28, in Manchester.
The 21-year-old Brit systematically broke down the American, dropping in him with a head shot in the third, then finishing him off in clinical style with an hellacious backhand left uppercut midway through the fifth.
It was a highlight reel KO and his 12th stoppage in 14 contests. The Kent puncher, signed to Queensberry Promotions, reflected on his performance on The AH Show:
“I don’t really get too high off the highs and I don’t get too low off the lows. In order to know what a good day is, you need to go through a bad day. And, obviously, myself, I’ve never lost, so I don’t feel I can fully appreciate or know what a win really is.
“The knockout was just crazy… I’m speechless, because obviously I thought I could do it—l just didn’t think it was going to be like that, especially against Jermaine Franklin. It’s not even about the knockout. I’ve watched the fight so many times. I’m happy I was able to please everyone: myself, my team, the crowd. I’m happy.”
