Matchroom Boxing leaned into comedy this week to keep the Anthony Joshua-Tyson Fury saga alive, releasing a skit on X that casts Joshua as a landlord finally trying to collect what he’s owed from a tenant who keeps disappearing.
“So, I’m here today to try and collect from Mr. Tyson Fury. I’ve been trying to collect for the last 10 years, but there’s always an excuse,” Joshua says in the clip. “I’m used to this. You get it from time to time. Someone moves in and tries to act the big man, but ultimately, I am the landlord. It’s like every time I get close, we manage to open up negotiations, he just vanishes. He owes me, and it’s time to stop running.”
Fury answers from an upstairs window in a robe and sunglasses, staying in character just long enough to brush the visit off. “AJ, you dumb sausage. I told you you’ll get it by the end of the year, alright? Now will you piss off and leave me alone,” he replies.
The timing isn’t an accident. Joshua stopped Kristian Prenga in the second round on July 25 in Jeddah, a result that reopened talk of the long-rumoured fight yet again after it has collapsed multiple times before. Joshua closed out the skit with one more dig at his rival. “I can’t say it was a great result today, but I’m confident that by the end of the year, I will have taken payment with plenty of interest,” he said.
Matchroom posted the clip directly on X, captioned simply “Knock, knock @Tyson_Fury 😂” – a low-cost way to keep the fight in the conversation while both camps continue circling an official announcement.
