Manny Pacquiao and Conor Benn face-off in Saudi Arabia
It seems that Manny Pacquiao and Conor Benn could well be set to fight one another after sharing a face-off in Saudi Arabia.
Legendary Filipino world champion Pacquiao, 45, and British contender Benn, 27, appear poised to announce a big showdown having come together during the Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou weigh-in.
The fighters hinted at advanced negotiations for a collision despite the fact that Pacquiao, an eight-weight world champion, last competed in August 2021 when he lost his WBA welterweight title to Yordenis Ugas.
Meanwhile, undefeated Benn secured a points victory over Peter Dobson last month, marking his second fight since a failed drugs test before his planned bout with Chris Eubank Jr in October 2022.
Following the weigh-in, both fighters discussed the potential match with Matchroom’s YouTube channel, suggesting confirmation is to come any day now.
Pacquiao: “Yes. I believe he can give a good fight. It’s been a while since I have fought a young fighter like him and I am excited for that.”
Benn: “It wasn’t on my radar. It’s idols to rivals and the public demand it and if the public want it, the public are going to get it. I’ve not hidden the fact that I want to get to 160 or 154 to fight legends of the game. I’ll fight any man. I’ll fight anyone put in front of me – if the public want it they can get it.”
It has been an unusual week for fight news with Mike Tyson revealing he is set to fight Jake Paul, despite being 30 years his junior.
